Small little update

Due to the fact that I now have a full time job I am not able to give much attention to my hair. Even though after next week training will be over and my hours will differ I still won't have much hair time. That being said for the time being I will be primarily posting on my Got LIFE? blog. So please check it out if you can. I am not abandoning this blog I just need to figure out how much time I can put towards my hair and what exactly I want to do with it. I'm strongly thinking about getting twist but have not decide as of yet. So stay tuned! I'm not going anywhere I just need some time to figure out what I really want to do with my hair.

Peace, Love, & many Blessings

The doubts continue

My doubt has not waivered. My hair isn't the only one transitioning, but my life is as well. I have a new job and it's making me question my transitioning. I will be working longer hours then my last job so I wont have as much time to put towards my hair. My hair is also starting to tangle again. It's like if I don't mess with it, I end up making up for the lack of manipulation the next day with detangling. It's so annoying. To cut down on the detangling I usually moisturize and seal my hair while it's still a little damp on my wash days. This usually cuts down on me having to do a lot of detangling later on. Well on my last wash day I was soooo tired. All I managed to put on my hair was my leave ins. After that I rapped a scarf around my head and fell out. Well despite my hair being extremely soft and just about perfect after that wash day when I got around to moisturizing and sealing the next night it was horrible. My new growth is on a whole new level. I'm just getting to the point where I have so much stuff I need to think about and don't even want to be bothered with my hair. I've been thinking about relaxing, but in the end it just makes me cringe. I've gotten this far. I'm about 4 months post and I have 5 more to go. I don't want to give up now. As soon as I relax I'll be back to square one if suddenly I want to transition again. I'm thinking the best thing to get me threw this is to either to get some braids or twist. I think as soon as I do that and just take a break from my hair I'll be alright. Hopefully my spirit will be renewd and I can get through it. Pray for me people. Anyway I'm off to work.
Peace & Love

Pushbacks...oh yeah and lets not forget doubts

So I guess I'll begin with the push back. I will once again be pushing back straightening my hair. I won't be going out of town this weekend unfortunately. I thought about flat ironing anyway but my cousin is having a 70's theme party tomorrow so I figured I'd rock some curls. I think I've learned my lesson and won't put a date on flat ironing this time. It will happen when it happens. I should be starting a new job in a few weeks so maybe I'll do it then. Though I doubt I will.

I'd also like to say despite buying my staple HBC items the other week I'm still buying stuff. Like I have no idea why I completely disregarded my 1 month no spending challenge. Like it's ridiculous. lol The sad thing about it is at this moment I have the urge to go to Ulta and look and buy some hair products. The other day I went to the a BSS here and looked into some wigs there. I'm looking for a nice cheap yet realistic wig that I can throw some berets and scarves on. Just to give my hair a break once in a while. I also to my surprise saw some JBCO. OMFG ya'll I'm so surprised I found it there. I was like 110% sure that I'd have to order that online. So yeah I will definitely be picking some up next time I go there. I actually didn't buy all that much stuff when I went there just a few hair accessories. WHich I will get to later in the post.

Now to the doubt part of the post. Well many know that a lot of people on their HHJ(Healthy Hair Journey) turn to YT for inspiration. At night when I'm moisturizing and sealing my hair I watch many videos. One fellow YTber who inspires me is Nunaavane. People she is not only inspiring because of her hair journey but also spiritually inspiring. Well the other day I watched her relaxer day video. Her progress was amazing. I started thinking maybe I should get a relaxer. I mean I want my natural hair, but at times I want straight hair too. Is that so bad? I know I can go to the Dominicans and get my hair blown out. I don't even know if there are even Dominicans here to blow my hair out if that is the case. So yeah after watching her video I started to really re think if I'm making the right decision. I don't want to cut my hair off then completely regret it. Even though I may have been super psyched before I got it cut. Uh I tell you this is such an emotional roller coaster but I'm sure w/e the decision I make in the end I will be happy with.

Finally we have this months purchases for the most part....
Photobucket
I picked up the conditioners from work.
Herbal Essence None of Your Frizziness Smoothing Conditioner
Tresemme Thermal Recovery Replenishing Conditioner
From the BSS:
3 flowers(clips/ponytail holders)
Purple Beret
(Not Shown)
Dove Intense Damage Therapy Conditioner

I was also going to pick up these cute sparkly berets but they were $8 so I decided to wait on those. They were sooo cute though. Maybe I'll go back and get them tomorrow. The only reason I got the Dove conditioner(besides the fact I'm a PJ) is I had a $2 CVS Extra Buck coupon plus a $1 coupon for a Dove Shampoo/Conditioner(from newspaper). So I basically paid .99 for it. Don't just be a PJ be one that saves people lol. I actually have another $1 coupon for the Heat Defense Therapy Shampoo/Conditioner/or Mist. I actually got that because I signed up for a sample at their website. Which is still available by the way so check their site out. Speaking of which I signed up for a sample from Joico for their humidity blocker which I still have not recieved. I was so looking forward to trying it too.

Well that is it for the time being. I think I'm going to start a new blog. I'll just keep this one hair related and my other one will be random talk I guess. Peace & Love

That time has come sooner then I thought...I THINK!

So the other day when I washed my hair I planned to detangle in the shower. I felt some tangles the day before and I had to do something about them. To be honest detangling in the shower freaks me out. I'm always afraid I'll have tons of breakage so I never fully detangle in the shower. Well after I washed and my hair was 85-90% dry I started moisturizing and sealing like usual. Well when I started I found out the true extent of my tangles. It was CRAZY! I had no idea how I could have no idea that my hair was that tangled. It was crazy. It literally took me 3 hours to do my hair. I actually made a YT video explaining the whole situation but I have yet to get around to posting it for some reason. Forgive me.
After I got all the tangles out a few days later I noticed another one. I don't know what is going on. My hair does not usually tangle like this. Which is why I THINK it may be time to BC. I don't know how it was even as easy as it was to detangle my hair. I just think the longer my hair gets the worse the tangles would be. So maybe it is best I just cut my hair off now. So on Wednesday I plan on going to this natural hair salon and seeing if they will cut my hair off. NOT YET! Eventually lol.
Oh yes let me not forget. In my last post I said I would not purchase any hair products for a month. I did however go out and buy my HB Olive Creme as well as my HB Carrot Creme. I NEEDED them. Seriously. I would have not gotten all of those tangles out had it not been for my carrot creme. As far as my Olive Creme I live by that stuff. I love it soo much. I use that a lot more then the Carrot Creme.

Well I washed my hair not too long ago so now it's time to do something with it. Peace & Love~

Welcome to the JUNGLE!!!!

No fun and games here though. Ok I've hit that point that every transitioner and stretcher alike dreads. You know what I'm talking about.... That moment that tempts you to break down and get a relaxer because you just can't take it anymore. Lucky for me I've hit the "hair gone wild" point BUT I actually have no desire to perm. I mean don't even get me wrong. I do think about how great all this growth would look if I got a relaxer. I would love to see how much growth I truly retained with a relaxer. That being said I'm just over actually having one. It was nice while I had it. Now it's time for me to move on. This wild hair just makes me want to BC now. The only thing is...ok I know this is corny but I was looking forward to the wash and gos. It's almost winter though I won't be able to truly appreciate them during this time. Unless I want to get sick that is.

Since I'm feeling the urge to BC now I think I may not make it to next year. So I'm probably going to do it once I get settled in my new job and start school. Then again like I said earlier winter is coming. That makes me want to reconsider. I'm always cold. Now that winter is coming I'm going to need the extra hair to keep my head warm. lol

You know what I forgot to mention in my last post about my length check. I guess that's what I should call it. Well I pushed it back to next week after I was supposed to do it last week. Well I'm pushing it back again. I'll be doing it the week after next. I'm not sure if I'm going out of town next week but I'm definitely going the week after next. So expect some pictures from that. Also this month I'm going to try a PJ rehab challenge. A personal one. I'm just going to try not to buy any hair products this month. Lets hope I accomplish it. I was going to post some pictures of my new growth but I'm feeling extremely lazy now so look for those in the next post. Well that is it for now. Peace & Love!

Continued...lol

I'm so sorry I'm just continuing my last post. This week was so so busy. I had a job interview the day after my post which is why I didn't finish it. I was in the middle of doing my hair. I didn't finish that until almost 1AM I think. I had to be up like at 7 something so I didn't have time to finish my post. After that my week was non stop between work and church events. When I got home today I passed out. lol No joke. The only 2 reasons I'm really even up was because I've had a taste for ice cream all week and hadn't had any time to enjoy the ice cream I got on Wedneseday. The second reason was because I really wanted to finish the last post or at least continue it. So here I go.

I didn't just get the heat protectant spray from Sally's. I also picked up some more processing bags and butterfly clips. I don't know if it's just me but I keep losing my clips. I have no idea what I do with those things but anyway. On my little trip shopping the other day I also picked up some makeup. I'd post pictures but I haven't even taken any. Which sort of brings me to my next subject. I finally got my YT channel straight. I got a new camera so the sounds a lot better then the first video I made a while back. On there you can see all the stuff I picked up.
http://www.youtube.com/user/VioletSauce

Anyway back to my hair. I was supposed to bun it up this week like I stated in my last post. Which I did not. I planned to go back to the buns after the interview but like I said the week was soooo busy. I literally rocked that flexi rod style until tonight. By the time I made it into my room I was in the bed sleep. I didn't have enough energy to do anything except put a hair bonnet on. Surprisingly my curls held up even though I went to sleep on them. When I got up in the morning I just combed them out and threw a headband on and it actually looked good. I think it's actually because of my clarifying wash. I think I may be a little heavey handed. Well I should say I know I'm heavy handed. I looked inside my HB Olive Creme jar and was blow away. I have like a tiny bit left. I just got it like a month ago. What a shame. I love that stuff though. It has to be my fave moisturizer hands down. I like HB Carrot Creme too but it's a protein so I don't want to get crazy with that.

Let me not forget the Castor Oil Challenge at Hairlista. Well I'm taking a break from it. My week(as I've stated a gajillion time) has been too busy for me to continue it. On top of that my new growth is prominent, and I don't feel like moisturizing and sealing then going back and applying the castor oil. I loved the challenge I just have too much going on at the moment. I may pick it back up at the beginning of November or later on this month.

So anyway that is pretty much it for now. TTYL!! Peace & Love<3

Finally!!!

Ok I'm back. Haven't posted in a good while but I'm trying. I washed my hair tonight since I won't have time to tomorrow. I have an interview and a church event tomorrow. I decided to bun it up this week until I got this interview that is. So tonight I'll be doing a flexi rod set then right back to buns on Thursday. Oh yeah tonight I did a prepoo with a mixture of my Lustrasilk cholesterol, Garnier Fructis Strength & Repair Instant Melting Conditioner, coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, olive oil, and glycerin. I don't know why I call that a pre-poo because I co-washed. Anyway I washed that out with my Vo5 clarifying conditioner kiwi lime squeeze I think thats what it's call. I don't think i even needed that because the mixture washed out really well and my hair felt so good. After that I DCed with my Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Conditioner and castor oil. My hair is still air drying but it does feel soft. I'm trying to put some moisture back in my hair because before I washed my hair the other day my hair felt so dry. Yet it had no reason to feel that way. So I'm almost convince my relaxed hair is porous.

I originally planned to flat iron my hair this week to see my growth process. I'm going to push that back 2 weeks since I'm going out of town then. Speaking of which I went to Sally's on Sunday. I picked up some hair clips, plastic shower caps, and FINALLY my Silk Elements Megasilk Olive Heat Protection Spray. I have no idea why I wanted this stuff as bad as I did. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations.

To be continued....

I'm not gone yet.

So I haven't posted much the last week and I apologize. I'm working out the kinks on my youtube videos. I did make another one, but I'm having problems with the volume. I did manage to finally get my shea butter. I love the smell of that stuff. I also picked up some more flexi rods and hair bun. So far I'm doing well on my castor oil challenge. I originally planned to start on the beginner one. Somehow I ended up on advanced. Which I technically wanted to do anyway.
One reason why I think I ended up on the advanced one, is because my hair has been feeling weird. Kind of dry like. I'm not sure if its because my hair may be porous or if it is because my hair just drinks up the moisturizer and oil. I'm thinking about getting some of that Roux Porosity Control Conditioner. If that happens to be the case.

I blow dried my hair on Monday. My cousin wanted to hang out and I was in the middle of my washing process so I had to dry it quicker then usual. I usually just let it air dry. I plan on flat ironing my hair out at the end of the month to see my growth process. After that I'll probably get some braids done. I really want to get twist but those are a lot more expensive.

Well that is it for now peoples.
Peace & Love

I'll try to make this quick~ +BIG NEWS!!!!

So I ended up washing my hair 3 times last week. I washed on Saturday because my hair just felt gross. I washed on Monday as usual. Finally tried my GVP Joico K-Pak Reconstructing Conditioner after I washed my hair. I left that on a few minutes longer then intended. Like 8 or 9 instead of the 5. Then I used my Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner. After all of that was done I applied my leave ins as usual. When my hair dried it was a bit crunchy on the top. I freaked of course. Started praying that I wouldn't have to go back and deep condition my hair. I was going to use my HB Carrot Creme to moisturize, but thought it would be best not to if my hair was going through protein overload. Which means my Profectiv Growth Lotion was out of the question to. So I ended up using my HB Olive Creme. Can you said life saver. I really love that stuff. I also applied my Castor oil to my scalp after I moisturized and sealed. So far I'm loving the castor oil. My scalp/hair sucks that stuff up. I planned to buy some Jamaican Black Castor oil but that was put on hold when I found out I'd be paying almost $20(shipping included) for it. So I'll just ride out on this little Walgreens bottle for a while.

Also last night when I was doing my hair I noticed something interesting. The hair near my nape seems to be a different texture then everywhere else. Like the hair near my forehead is like a 4a the crown is like a 4b. The nape hair is probably a 3c I guess.

Last night I decided to put my flexi rods to use. I have the 9/16" blue ones.
Here are the results:
Photobucket
I did it on dry hair by the way. First off let me say that I didn't have enough rods to do the back. I only purchased one pack of flexi rods. So I didn't have enough to do the back and just ended up bantu knoting it. When I took it down of course the left side was in it's own world. No matter how much I tried to fluff it out it just stayed lifeless. In the end I twisted the back up and called it a day. In my attempt to fluff it out and make it blend I combed out the right side of my hair. Which is why the curls aren't as defined on that side. All in all it came out pretty decent.

That is pretty much it for now. Peace & Love

OH YEAH! BIG BIG BIG NEWS! I got myself a webcam. I recorded the video and everything to put up on YT!!!!! BUT! Of course there is always one of those~ I, for some reason thought it had a mic built in. Well it doesn't so I have a video with no sound. So I'm just going to either A): Buy a cheap mic B): Buy another cheap webcam that has a mic. I haven't decided as of yet. Until then videos will have to wait. They are coming though :)

The day I have been waiting for...

So I finally had my clarifying wash last night. I was supposed to do it Monday, but work got in the way of that. On top of that I was asked to come in the first thing the next morning. So when I did finally come home I went straight to bed.
So anyway let me get back to last night. After I ran some errands around 5 I applied my Burt Bee's Pre-Shampoo Treatment. I left that on until about 11:30. After I rinsed that out I shampooed with my Vo5 Kiwi Lime Clarifying shampoo. I washed with that twice. First time I just washed my hair all together. The second time I parted my hair in to 4 sections and left it on for about 3 minutes. When I washed that out I applied my Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner. Left that on for about 3 minutes. Then rinsed it out. I towel dried my hair and applied my leave ins(Elasta Qp H2 & Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer).
By the way I forgot to mention in my last post that I joined the Castor Oil Challenge at Hairlista. I'm starting off at the Basic Level and I'm going to try to work my way up to Advanced or Ultimate. Only thing is I don't know if I want to really wash my hair 3 times a week. Since I had intended to use castor oil eventually I went to Sally's when I first started my Healthy Hair Journey and picked up an applicator bottle. So despite all the castor oil application horror stories I've heard mine was a breeze. I love how soft my new growth is. I definitely may make the castor oil a staple.
That being said after this wash I'm in love with not only the castor oil, but with the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. Not only does my relaxed ends look good my new growth isn't feeling as rough as it usually does. This also could be contributed to the clarifying of my hair. None the less I'm am extremely happy with the results of last night.

Originally I was supposed to start using my Wild Growth Oil after I clarified my hair. Since I decided to join the castor oil challenge I'm unsure at the moment how to incorporate the WGO into my regimen. I may just mix it in with the castor oil and call it a day.
I'm also thinking about getting my hair braided. I planned to do that at the beginning of the summer but never got around to it. For some reason with my bantu knot outs and my braid outs my hair is starting to get tangled quite a bit. So I'm getting quite a bit of breakage. I want to do a protein treatment but I prefer to do those when I shampoo. My next wash day is a co-wash so I'll have to wait until next Monday. Well that is it for now. Peace & Love~

I'm still here

So it's been about a week since I ttyped up a blog. I kept meaning to but for some reason never I never got to it. I did try the Burt Bees' Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment last week. It was pretty good. I didn't keep it on as long as I would have liked to since I got home late. I think I had it on for about 15min I think. Next time I'll try to keep it on for at least an hour. I was thinking about wearing it to work, but I'm not sure if I want to rock a ponytail tomorrow. Tomorrow is my clarifying day. I know I said I'd clarify/chelate on the first Monday of every month. Technically we will be like a day away from it. Then again since I'll be working late I might not even wash my hair tomorrow night. I already know I won't feel like getting up first thing in the morning to wash my hair.

So yesterday I did a bantu knot out. It looked so pretty I decided to take a picture of it.
Photobucket

I ended up wearing it again today. I'll probably wear it tomorrow too.

I also picked up a few items Friday.
Photobucket
Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Undo Dryness Reversal Treatment
Fantasia IC Olive Styling Gel
Aussie Deeeeep 3 Minute Miracle Moisture Treatment
Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curls & Waves Conditioner
Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme
Geritol Complete
Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol

I actually mentioned getting the Herbal Essence a while back. I just thought it deserved a picture. The white thing that my stuff is sitting on is a new container. I got one when I first started my healthy journey, but some of my conditioners were too tall for it to close. I haven't even gotten around to putting any of my stuff in it yet. The Geritol will be replacing my Andre Lessman supplement. I accidentally ruined my last few supplements I had left. I was thinking about getting the One A Day gummie vitamins but I settled on the Geritol. I heard quite a few good things about it.
I have heard a lot of good things about the Aussie deep conditioner so I had to pick that up. I hope it works good for me too. I've been wanting to try some of the Garnier Fructis Triple Moisture products since I first heard about it. After I purchased it I saw that it had mineral oil in it. I'm really bad about reading the labels. So I'll probably shampoo after I use that.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I did not use my Silk Elements shampoo again last week. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I just ended up using my Cream of Nature shampoo.
Well that is pretty much it for now. Peace & Love~

Quick and sweet....Or maybe not

Well I've been called in to work today. I'll be leaving in a little under an hour. So I'll try to make this quick.

First off I finally made it to Whole Foods. I've wanted to go for years but never got the chance until now. I only got a couple of things but I'll definitely be going back.
So this is what I got:
Photobucket
Burt Bees' Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment
Vegitable Glycerin (Humectant)
Orderless Garlic Supplements (For Shedding)
Nature's Way Organic Pure Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Sealant)

The only thing I haven't used yet is the hair treatment. Everything else I've used. I'm still in love with my coconut oil. I use the old jar I have left on my skin now. The glycerin seems to be doing well. It will probably take a month for me to see the results of the garlic supplements though.

Yesterday was eventful for my hair I guess one could say. I had a 24hr no manipulation challenge. I just wanted to see if I could go a day without combing or brushing my hair. Which I did. I actually didn't even comb my hair until after I had moisturized and sealed it. Which was around 4 in the morning. I also did my first baggy last night. I must say my ends do look a lot less crazy. Though I think I could have used a lot less product. I ended up using a mixture of my Garnier Fructis Length & Strength Leave-In mixed with Glycerin and Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship Leave-In. Then after that I sealed with my Coconut Oil. Next time I think I'll go without the Garnier Fructis Leave-In.

I felt around in the back of my head and it feels like I've got at least an inch of new growth in the back. So that is pretty good. The last two days I've had the urge to just chop my hair off. I don't know why. I'm just so over the two texture thing that's going on I guess. I'm just ready to take care of my natural hair. I'm over the relaxed hair. I plan on transitioning until April or May. The way I'm feeling I just don't even know if I can last that long. This hair journey in some way does feel like a spiritual growth. I feel like I'm truly coming into my own. I've gone through so much crap in my life. Especially the last 5 years. It's like me cutting my hair off will be a symbol of me letting all the hurt, pain, regret, doubts, insecurities, and negativity that has ran my life up to now go. I feel so ready when I just think about how much something that seems so simple will likely affect my life in a MAJOR way. It's a truly beautiful thing.Peace & Love~

I can't believe this....That's life for ya....

I decided to co-wash last night. I co-washed with a mixture of my Garnier Fructis Strength & Repair Melting Mask and my Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship. It was a good co-wash I have no complaints there. I decided to co-wash last night by the way because I wanted to do pin curls. I didn't feel like getting up first thing in the morning to do all that before I had to go to work. So I moisturized and sealed then did my pin curls. Now I just took out my pin curls like an hour ago probably. They looked great. As you may know I live in Florida. Which means ridiculous humidity and heat. So anyway I wasn't going to have my curls falling today. So I did the unthinkable. I put holding spray with alcohol in it on my hair. BIG MISTAKE. First of all I got a little crazy with the spray. Sprayed way too much way too close. So my curls were weighed down. Which totally defeated the purpose of me using that junk on my hair. So I just combed that crap out. I probably shouldn't have done that. I know I shouldn't have because I had a lot of breakage. Which upset me, but obviously there is nothing I can do about that.

I only have a few hours to go before work so I'll most likely be wearing a bun there. Tonight I'll probably do a protein treatment and a Deep Condition. Which upsets me more because I just washed last night. I'm not an everyday washer ya'll. Twice a week is more then enough for me. So I'm just going to take this as a lesson learned and stay away from that crap. Never again I tell you.

By the way in my Better Late Then Never... post I forgot to put my HE Totally Twisted Conditioner in the picture. Not that it would help my product junkie image.

I also forgot to post my braid out pictures from the other day so here goes.

Before I took the braids out
Photobucket

After I took them out
Photobucket
By the way when I do my braid outs I put rollers at the end. The first braid out I did was without rollers and my ends were looking like they were in their own world. This is by far the best braid out I've had to date. I'll probably do one again Friday night.

Well that is it for the time being. Peace & Love

How did it go you ask....

I just finished washing my hair not to long ago. I used the Silk Elements MegaSilk Olive Shampoo instead of my usual Creme of Nature Detangling Conditioning shampoo. I'm going to be honest I was not feeling that shampoo at all. I'm really feeling the urge to go right back to Sally's and return that ish. I felt like it wasn't cleaning my hair/scalp at all. It just seemed to be there on my head. Despite all this I will be giving it one more try next week. There were quite a few things that could have caused this situation. I did co-wash my hair Saturday instead of Thursday. So there was possibly nothing to clean. Yesterday I will admit I was heavy handed on the moisturizing. Maybe because of that it was too much for the shampoo. I really don't know. So instead of putting it away and never using it again I will give it one more try next week. If it doesn't work out I.....I just hope it does. -_-

Now that, that is over with I want to talk about staples. These are the items that have never let me down and I will always be loyal to.

#1
Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner
Photobucket
This stuff is so amazing. I have never been so amazed by any hair product. It has great slip. On top of that it really does leave your hair soft. There is no doubt this stuff moisturizes my hair. I recommend this to everyone. Especially if you have dry or really coarse hair. You will love this stuff.

#2
Coconut Oil
Photobucket
The reason why I love this oil so much is because it's so light. I'm used to using heavier oils on my hair. That's how it's always been. Until I found this. I use it all the time. I pre-poo with this as well as seal my hair with it. I plan on do even more with it in the future. If you don't care for heavy oils I recommend this for you. I do actually use the brand that's pictured. I personally will not be using this brand again. Not because it's bad but I want to try Extra Virgin Coconut Oil next time.

#3
Shower Comb
Photobucket
This has to be the greatest comb in the world in my opinion. I use this so much it's ridiculous. It has gotten to the point that I don't even use my regular big tooth comb anymore. I only use this. Detangling is a breeze with this comb. I still have a little breakage with my regular big tooth comb. When I use this comb what little I did have is usually cut in half if I use this instead. The only reason you would need any other comb is to make your parts straight. That's it.

#4
Elasta QP Mango Butter
Photobucket
This is so amazing. The smell alone will make you fall in love. Not only that it's a great moisturizer. It took me a while to find this, but it was well worth the look. I must at admit when you first see this it seems a little steep price wise. The thing about this is a little does go a long way. There is no need to use a ton of this. Even when I get heavy handed with this it doesn't seem to weight my hair down. Then again I have thick hair. If you try this you will not be disappointed.

That's it for today. I'm trying to get my wishlist together. It seems to get altered everyday.
Oh yeah I forgot last night I did use the Carrot Oil Root Moisturizer. Even though it has mineral oil in it I decided to use it since I was going to wash my hair today.I only used it on my roots. It didn't really do too much but I did only use it once. I don't plan on using it again to be honest. Well that is it. Peace & Love~

New Regimen.....Plus minor errors

Before I get to my regimen update I have to correct some errors. Ok In my "Yeah I Know" post something happened when I was editing it and now the regimen part is gone. So yeah I guess it doesn't matter since I'm about to update my regimen anyway so here goes~

Monday:
Wash Day
Shampoo-Creme of Nature Detangling Conditioning Shampoo
Conditioner-Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner
First Monday of every Month I will use a Clarifying Shampoo
Clarifying Shamppo-Vo5 Herbal Escapes Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo

Thursday:
Co-Wash
Various Conditioners

Pre-poo:
Various Conditioners
Coconut Oil
Various Other Oils

Moisturize:
Twice A Day
Mango Butter
African Pride Braid Spray
Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil
Various Other Moisturizers
I don't use all of these twice a day maybe one or two in the morning then a different one at night.

Protein Treatment:
Every week or Every other week
ORS Mayonnaise
ORS Replenishing Pak

I have a lot of products so that's why I say "various". Plus I like to switch up my moisturizers every now and then. So I don't always use the same everyday. Tomorrow I will be trying a new shampoo so I might change my regimen again if it turns out well. I haven't decide if I'm going to use my new conditioner after I shampoo or just end up using that as a co-wash. Well until tomorrow. Peace & Love~

Better late then never...

So I was supposed to do a co-wash on Thursday. I didn't of course and decided to do it on Friday. THEN of course that didn't happen. So finally I had co-wash #2 Saturday. I actually didn't care so much for my co-wash yesterday. I'm not sure what it was. Maybe I didn't do something right. I loved my hair the first time I did a co-wash, but this time it seemed bleh... I co-washed with a mixture of Garnier Fructis Strength & Repair Instant Melting Conditioner, Garnier Fructis 3 Minute Fortifying Deep Conditioner, Jojoba Oil, and Coconut Oil. I also did a scrub with some of my Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner. After I applied my leave ins (Elasta QP H-Two, African Pride Braid Spray). After that I put a little mango butter in my hair as well. Then I let my hair air dry. After that I moisturized my hair with more mango butter(I love this stuff) and some of my Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil. Then I pin curled my hair and went to sleep. Here is the result of my pin curl:

This style reminds me a lot of the Bantu Knot out. Except I find doing those much easier. That's probably because this was my first time doing a pin curl.I think I'll try this again sometime after I flat iron my hair again. Which I'm hoping I can hold off on the flat ironing until next month ,but I'm feeling mighty week right now.

Well about two post ago I said I wouldn't be buying anything unless one of the flat irons I want goes on sale. Well that didn't happen. I ended up buying a few products >.< So these are the products that broke me down:
Silk Elements MegaSilk Olive Shampoo & Conditioner
Hollywood Beauty Carrot Creme (the little bottle of Carrot Oil Root Moisturizer came with it)
Wild Growth Hair Oil
Vo5 Herbal Escapes Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo & Conditioner

So far I've only used the Carrot Creme. I really like using that on my hair. The Root Moisturizer however has mineral oil in it so I'm kind of wary of using that. It also smells horrible on top of that. lol
I plan to start using my Wild Growth oil after I do a clarifying wash. I plan on using the Silk Elements Shampoo and Conditioner Monday. So I should be making a post about that tomorrow. That is all for now. Peace & Love~

Yeah I know...

So I haven't updated in a week. I'm getting to that point where I just don't feel like blogging, you know? Anyway the show will go on....

Co-Wash #1
I had my first co-wash Friday night. I had to go to work first thing Saturday morning so I decided to get it out of the way Friday night. I co-washed with 3 conditioners. Is that normal? Well I did it even if it's not. I started off with my Garnier Fructis Strength & Repair Instant Melting Conditioner. I left that on for about 20 minutes. Then I added my Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner around the last 5 minutes. After that I washed them out and added some of my Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner. After I applied that I scrubbed my scalp and then washed it out and let my hair air dry.
I must say that I'm in love with co-washing now. It left my hair incredibly soft. I definately will be co-washing regularly. I'll be replacing my second weekly wash with a cowash now.

Wash day #4
I began wash day (not the actual day since it was like evening time when I got to my hair) by pre-pooing with a mixture of coconut oil, jojoba oil, and my Garnier Fructis Fortifying Deep Conditioner. I think I left that on for about an hour then I washed it out with my Creme of Nature Detangling Conditioning Shampoo. I decided that it was finally time for my to try out my ORS Replenishing Pak. Let me just say that, that stuff smells sooo good. I used half of the pack surprisingly. I usually have to use a lot of product because my hair is so thick. I let that stay on for an hour as well. After that I washed it out and applied my Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner. Technically you don't have to condition after if you don't want to. I did this because it is a light protein so I just wanted to balance it out. After that I put in my leave ins and my mango butter

And the beat goes on~

Well so much to tell. I really should be in bed now but since I'm here might as well continue.
So I'm officially not buying anymore products for my hair. Unless the flat iron I want goes on sale.... Anyway on Monday I went to the BSS even though I knew I shouldn't have. I couldn't help it though. I knew if I went to that specific store I would find everything I wanted. Guess what?!?! I did.

Exhibit A

Elasta QP H-Two
Garnier Fructis Fortifying Deep Conditioner
Garnier Fructis Strength & Repair Instant Melting Conditioner
Jojoba Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Beyond The Zone Straight Shot Smoothing Serum
Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil Hair Treatment with Mink Oil
Twist Rollers
Banana Clip
Shower Comb
Assorted Comb Pack

Exhibit B

Elasta QP Mango Butter
Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer
African Essence Natural Herbal Oil
Donna Round Firm Foundation

Well the second picture is actually the purchase where I knew I had purchased way too much. Oh well! So yesterday was wash day #3. Before I get to that let me talk about my Scarf Method results. It didn't turn out all that great. I must say that was my fault. I got waves, but I don't think I covered as much hair as I would have liked. I will definitely try it again hopefully when I put that hair bun to use.

Ok now back to wash day #3. I pre-pooed with the Garnier Fructis Fortifying Deep Conditioner mixed with Africa's Best Herbal Oil and some Coconut Oil. I left that on for about 2 hours. I then washed it out with my Vo5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream shampoo. After that I used the conditioner, detangled with my shower comb and left that on for about 20min. After I towel dried my hair I sprayed it with my Aphogee Restructurizer, Elasta Qp H-Two Leave In, and my Dove Heat Defense Therapy Protect And Shine Mist. After I applied the sprays I then applied some of my Mango Butter to my hair. I then let my hair air dry. After about 2 hours I brought my drier out because I wanted to go to bed. I wasn't going to go unless my hair was flat ironed so to pick up the pace I blow dried my hair. When I finished that I once again sprayed my hair with my Dove Heat Defense Therapy Protect And Shine Mist. After that I sectioned of my hair and applied my Beyond The Zone Straight Shot Smoothing Serum. When everything was done this was my end result:
My hair has not looked this good (in my opinion) in about 2-3 years. So it's safe to say that I am satisfied with the results. My Aphogee Reconstructor and my Shower Comb are my two favorite things now.

Up next will be my first co-wash. :O

So far...

Ok I'm four days in and it's going pretty well. I decided to wash my hair Monday night. Evrything went well. I decided to pre-poo with my Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner and some Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I kept that on for a little under 2 hours. I thought about doing it overnight, but I didn't put enough oil on my hair to do that. When everything was said and done I liked the results I got. I decided to let my hair air dry. After it was about 80% dry I put in some Bantu Knots and kept them in over night.

I loved my results the next morning. This will definitely be a style I will continue to use. After I moisturized my hair Tuesday night I decided I wanted to try the braid out. So I braided my hair in...well I can't remember how many braids probably 8 or 9. The next morning I took them down and worked them apart. Well I hated that look. Maybe I didn't braid them down far enough or maybe I should have put rollers on the ends or something. It just was not hot. So I decided to put my hair in two buns. Well after I did that I was informed I looked 12 so yeah. I could not rock that look. So I ended up taking them down and suddenly my braid out looked perfect. It ended up looking exactly the way I wanted it to look. No pictures of that though sorry. >.<

Tonight I will be trying out the "Scarf Method". I will also be doing a Protein Treatment. I think one of the hardest part of this regimen will be trying not to manipulate my hair a lot. I just feel like I have to comb my hair everyday. I just can't deal with having matted hair. So yeah that is going to be tough.

Next week I'm going out of town so I will be flat ironing my hair. I'm going to try to cut my heat use down to every other week then hopefully once a month after a while. Next week I've also decided that I'm just going to shampoo on monday and do a cowash on Friday or Saturday. I hate washing my hair away from home so I'll resume my regular schedule the following week.

Oh yeah about my flat iron I have no idea what type it is. I was told it was a ceramic one but I'm not sure if it's just coated to be honest. So obviously I'm currently looking for a new one.
I'm thinking about going with the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron. The Chi Digital flat irons seem decent but I just don't want to dish out $100+ for that.

That is all for now. Next up I'll probably be posting my wishlist of products. I may even just post some random junk on my mind who knows. Peace out~

Monday, July 27, 2009

So today is the day. Maybe?!?! I'm not sure...+HAUL!

Well I was going to wash my hair today. The only thing is it decided to rain. I can't wash my hair with wet weather outside. I feel there is some old superstition out there that warns against it. I can't remember nor do I even know if this exist. This superstition could very well be all in my head. I might wash my hair anyway. My scalp is so dry and is itching like crazy. I'm feeling like I can't wait another day. Plus I planned to try this bun out style. Who knows.

Even though the weather seems to have possibly rained on my parade the show must go on. I was intending to post my regimen. I also wanted to post the haul of products I purchased to help me along this journey. So let us (or me) begin....

Now will be a good time to give you my hair stats.

Length: NL/SL
Hair Type: 4a/b
Ideal Length: APL/BSL
Relaxed/Natural: Relaxed

For those who were wondering:
NL= Neck Length
SL= Shoulder Length
APL= Arm Pit Length
BSL= Bra Strap Length

There are many more but they don't pertain to me. They are either too long or too short of a length for my liking. Believe me the more length the more work. I have thick hair so anything longer then BSL is just too much work for me. Plus what is truly important is the health not necessarily the length.

Next up are the products and tools that I will be using. Most of these will most likely vary overtime. For the time being here are the products/tools I will be using:

These are what I like to call my essentials~

Creme of Nature Detangling Conditioning Shampoo
Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner
Vo5 Moisture Milks Strawberries & Cream Shampoo and Conditioner
GVP Hair Reconstructor
Elasta QP Recovery Moisturizer
Braid Spray
Profectiv Mega Growth Lotion
Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise
Organic Root Stimulator Replenishing Pak
100% Coconut oil

Next up are my tool~

Rollers
Hair Clips
Spray Bottles
Squirt Bottle
Paddle Brush
Satin Nightcap
Hair Pins
Ouchless Hair Bands
Shower Caps
Wide Toothed Comb
Soft Boar Hair Brush

Last but not least are my extras~

Healthy Hair Skin & Nail Plus Pomegranate 40:40
Castor Oil
Garnier Fructis Length & Strength Anti-Split Ends Leave-In Treatment
Aussie Hair Insurance Tip Protector+Leave-In Conditioner
Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner
Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Leave In Split In Protector

That is all for now.....I'll hopefully be posting my regimen next time.

Intro Lets GO!

First let me state that this is not my first time blogging. This will be my third try at this. I hope it goes well.

Now that I got that out of the way lets get down to business. You maybe be wondering why I started this blog(or not). Well if you'd give me a chance I'll tell you.... So last week I'd been thinking a lot. Ok I know what you are thinking "Who does not think a lot during the week?"
Guess what? You are right. It's not so much that I've been thinking more so then it is what I was thinking about. So I've been thinking about..........................GOING au natural! That's right no more perms. Well not exactly. I'm not exactly sure if that is what I TRULY want. I'm only in the beginning stages of consideration. This is a huge DECISION. I'll be burdened with the demands of trying to restrain some coarse hair. Extremely thick coarse hair people! That is not fun. And if you are a black woman you know this. Even with a perm in your head you still feel like your hair is a 9-to-5 job at times.

To help me make this arduous decision I've decided to try this new hair regimen, that will help improve my hair growth(fingers crossed), and most importantly get my hair in a healthy shape. I'll give myself 6 months to decide whether or not this is a decision I want to make. If I decide that I want to go natural I will proceed with this regimen. Hopefully at some point after my hair will have grown out to a point where I'm comfortable chopping the relaxed parts off. If I decide that natural just isn't for me I take my butt to get a perm and live happily ever after. :P

So here begins my journey.....That being said this blog isn't just about my hair. It's also about the rest of my life and the comedy of errors that it is. So please sit back relax and laugh with me not at me.
